Abstract (EN)

In this study, acquiring natural colouring substances from various tree and plant extracts and applying these colouring substances on different wood samples, and also determining the colour chancing values of the coloured examples by exposing them to ?Accelerated Weathering? experiment is aimed. Within this scope, test samples from scotch pine (pinus sylvestris L.), beech (fagus orientalis Lipsky), and oak (quercus robur) woods were used. And the colouring extracts are qercus ( qercus aucheri), acorn ( quercus robur), chestnut (castanea sativa) and gold-cup (berova orientalis). In order for these extracts to adsorb on the surface wood samples and to stabilize the colour of the dye mordants were used. These mordants are iron sulphate ( ), aluminium sulphate ( ) and vinegar. The method for acquiring the colouring substances is; for each 100 ml of extract, 17 gram herbal colouring substance. As for mordant, 3 % FeSO4, 5 % AISO4 and 10 % vinegar were used. Natural dye acquired during the study, is categorized into two groups as with and without mordant. The colouring extracts available applied on 80x150x10 mm wooden samples through a two-coat paint process. For the colour measurement before the accelerated weather stage, the colour values were determined via Minolta CR-10, which is a portable colour determiner device. The colour values determined were classified according to the coordinates (Commission International de I?Eclaireage-CIELAB_1976) stated in ISO 2470.Coloured samples placed rapidly in the weathering device and after they were exposed to ?UV + condensation for 100 hours, their colour measurement was determined. This process was repeated at the 200th and at the 300th hours. In order to determine values of the change in colour resulting from the UV + Condensation process ?Total Colour Alteration Values (?E)? according to ISO 2470 were used. The acquired findings were interpreted through diagrams.According to the results, applying chestnut dye on beech with mordant produced the optimum results and it is the method in which there is the least colour alteration. As for the vinegar that we used as natural mordent is among the most efficient ones with chestnut dye on pine tree. Vinegar, which is one of the experimental samples showed resistive qualities like other substances. So, in acquiring natural colouring substances, by using natural mordant, 100 % natural wooden surface material was developed. And the application in which iron sulphate ( ) is the most efficient is applying qercus colouring substance on pine wood. Aluminium sulphate ( ) was observed generally in each application to be the mordent which has the most rapid colour alteration qualities and it was considered to be inefficient in comparison with others. Keywords: Natural colouring substances, surface materials, UV, mordant, accelerated weathering
