Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted in Samarra State Hospital in the city of Samarra/Salah al-Din between April and June 2021. 100 swab samples were collected from the burns and wounds of male and female patients aged 1-60 years old from the hospital. Burned samples (40%) and wounds (12%) were cultured on blood agar, McConkey agar and cetrimide agar after incubation at 37 °C for 24 hours. Pseudomonas aeruginosa isolates were identified by conventional methods according to colonial morphology, shape, size, colour, odour and dye production of the 40 samples collected, 100% bacterial growth occurred, distributed among 16 (40%) males and 24 (60%) females. Regarding the antibiotic susceptibility test, the study results showed that the high antimicrobial resistance of P.aerginosa isolates was 100% resistant to tetracyclines, ampicillin, chloramphenicol, and cephalexin, while 100% susceptible to Ciprofloxacin and Levofloxacin. The results of the present study showed that the aqueous extract of Myrtus communis was superior to the alcoholic extract, while the alcoholic extract of Calendula officinalis was superior to the aqueous extract. This is the first study of a Synergistic blend of these plants with antibiotics that show resistance to P.aerginosa
