Abstract (EN)

Our thesis which we have examined the rebellions and civil wars covers the period which begin with 976 when Basileios II came to power and end with in Latin occupation of Constantinope in 1204. Our study examines the changes in the Byzantine throne and the failed coup attempts. In addition, the civil wars in which the people are involved are also included. Religious uprisings were not included in our thesis because they needed theological research. In the Byzantine Empire, the elements necessary to stay in power and on the way to come to power have been examined. The relation between the military and civil aristocracy struggling for power in the Byzantine Empire was emphasized. The main idea of thesis is about the relationship between these groups which aimed to reach the throne and the church, the people and the army.
