Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to examine the post-transplant self-management levels and immunosuppressive drug compliance in patients with kidney transplantation. The population of the study consisted of 134 patients with 413 kidney transplants who applied to Gaziantep University Şahinbey Research and Application Hospital Nephrology - Organ Transplant Polyclinic from 2009 to 2021. Data collection tools; socio-demographic and descriptive characteristics form, Self-Management Scale in Kidney Transplant Recipients and Scale of Adherence to Immunosuppressive Treatment in Organ Transplant Patients. Number, percentage and mean values, Kolmogorov Smirnov Test t test, analysis of variance or nonparametric Kruskal Wallis H test, Mann-Whitney U were used in the evaluation of the data. Necessary permissions were obtained before starting the work. According to the study findings, 63% of the patients are male, 27% are in the 31-40 age group, 76% are married, 84% have primary school - secondary school education, and income is equal to 48%. One of the sub-dimensions of the Self-Management Scale for Kidney Transplant Recipients, the score of "recognizing abnormal situations in the early period and coping with them" is 3.065±0.524, the score of "self-care behaviors and coping with stress in daily life" is 3.046±0.459, and the score of "self-monitoring" It was calculated as 2.485±0.882. There was no significant difference between the answers given to the patients' questions about gender and alcohol use (p>0.05). Apart from these, a significant difference was found between the scale mean score and smoking status, physical exercise status and donor type (p<0.05). The mean score of the Scale of Compliance with Immunosuppressive Treatment in Transplant Patients was calculated as 3.051±0.417. There was no significant difference between the mean score of the scale and the answers given to the questions about gender, alcohol use, physical exercise status, post-transplant drug use and other things to do, donor type (p>0.05). Apart from these, a significant difference was found between the scale mean score and smoking status (p<0.05). In the Examination of Self-Management and Immunosuppressive Drug Compliance in Patients with Kidney Transplantation, it was determined that self-management and compliance were related to each other. In order to increase compliance with immunosuppressive therapy and to provide self-management, periodic trainings should be conducted.
