Example of the İstanbul Development Agency in the context of regional and economic development

When the levels of development between the regions of our country are examined, the shortcomings and deficiencies in the field of development policies between the regions are striking. At this point, the management has had to form solution mechanisms in order to overcome these shortcomings and deficiencies. In this study, it was aimed to investigate the measures for the development of Regional Development Agencies, which are becoming widespread in the world, to present developmental problems, to present alternative solutions to these problems and to develop them as supporting units for development. The introduction of local services by locally affiliated units instead of central governments has gradually become a dominant concept and thus the concepts of regionalism and territoriality have begun to be used in the field of management. Development agencies that undertake a crucial task, such as the elimination of regional disparities, have been investigated as structures that have been established to serve to uncover the dynamics of each region. Regional development agencies are not only considered as a structure that supports economic development, but socio-cultural development as institutions acting together with all actors in the region. Economic development has become even more important with the rise of regional economies. Economic development is a sign of growing not only in economic sense but also in political and cultural terms. In this context, the concept of economic development is explained in this context and the economic development policies, models, indicators and determinants of economic development are discussed. The aim of this study, which will be examined by the development agency and the economic development process and the Istanbul development agency; The formation process of regional development agencies in Turkey, the structure of regional development agencies and the regional development approaches of the EU are examined and the contributions of the Istanbul Development Agency (İSTKA) to the tasks of regional development and development of Istanbul are presented.
