The role of municipalities and regional development agencies in regional development

In the world, the consept of development has become very important. Our country lags behind developed countries and has started to make important studies on this subject with the European Union process. In this study, the process of regional development in our country, the developments in the municipality in this process, the examples in our country and the world and their contributions are examined. Administrative structure and financial structure of development agencies and municipalities were discussed. It is aimed to reveal how the financial structures of these institutions benefit the development issue, how to provide more efficient service by removing their deficiencies. The aim of the study is to examine the examples of countries that have achieved success, and to evaluate what needs to be done to improve the regional development in our country and our institutions, to ensure that the administrative authority and financial sharing balance between the central government and municipalities is efficient. It is also to explain the contribution of increasing the opportunities of development agencies and municipalities to the progress of regional development.
