Propagation of some plants used ın landscape works in Bolu in different media by cuttings

The rooting ability of 1-year and 2-year cuttings of plant species that are preferred for their red color were examined in different media under different heating conditions (being heated and not heated underneath the containers). Thus, the experiment was conducted by using 1-year and 2-year cuttings of three species (Acer platanoides ?Krimson King?, Berberis thunbergii ?Atropurpurea? and Prunus cerasifera ?Pisardi Nigra?), five rooting media (turf, forest soil, perlit, the mixture of these three in equal amounts, and fine sandy soil) and two heating conditions.The rooting percentage, root surface area, root length and root weight of the cuttings were measured. The results indicated that Acer platanoides ?Krimsong King? cuttings did not grow roots in any of the media. Berberis thunbergii ?Atropurpurea? cuttings grew roots in turf and forest soil successfully, whereas Prunus cerasifera ?Pisardi Nigra? cuttings grew roots best in perlit and the fine sandy soil.Keywords: Norway maple, barberry, cherry plum, propagation by stem cuttings, rooting medium
