Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this thesis study, synthesis of biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) was targeted due to its biocompatibility resulting from the chemical similarity to the mineral structure of bone tissue. In order to take advantage of the bone-forming properties of boron (B), BCP structure was synthesized using a solid-state method by adding B to the BCP structure. To determine the effects of the B additive ratio on the structure and mechanical properties, B2O3 was used as the B source at weight ratios of 1%, 2%, and 4% during the production stage. XRD and Rietveld analyses before and after sintering stage revealed the formation of the BCP structure, and FTIR analysis confirmed the B existence as BO2 and BO3 in the structure. Density calculation, compression testing, and diametral testing were performed after sintering at 1100 °C to determine the effects of B contribution on the density and compressive strength of BCP. It was determined that as the B ratio increased, the density, compression strength, and diametral strength values of BCP samples decreased.
