Abstract (EN)

ASLAN G, Evaluation of Retinol, Cholecalciferol, α-Tocopherol and Phylloquinone Levels in Calves with Bronchopneumonia. Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Institute of Health Sciences, Department of Veterinary Internal Diseases, Master Thesis, Van, 2025. The aim of this study was to determine the concentration levels of Retinol, Cholecalciferol, α-Tocopherol and Phylloquinone in calves with bronchopneumonia. The animal material of this study was carried out on a total of 50 calves, including 40 calves with bronchopneumonia, aged 0-6 months, of different breeds and sexes, 40 calves diagnosed with bronchopneumonia and 10 healthy calves, who came to Van Yüzüncü Yıl University Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Internal Medicine Polyclinic. After the clinical examinations of the calves with bronchopneumonia, blood samples were taken from the vena jugularis for the analysis of biochemical parameters. Blood samples taken in anticoagulant-free (biochemical) tubes were centrifuged at 3000 RPM/10 minutes and the serum samples obtained were analyzed for vitamin A, D, E and K concentrations according to the specified procedures. Statistical analyses of the obtained biochemical parameters were evaluated using the SPSS package program. According to the analysis of the statistical data obtained, Retinol, Cholecalciferol, α-Tocopherol levels of calves with bronchopneumonia were significantly lower than the same parameters of the control group, while Phylloquinone levels of calves with bronchopneumonia were not significantly lower than the control group. In conclusion; vitamin concentrations of calves with bronchopneumonia were found to be lower than healthy calves. While treating calves with bronchopneumonia, in addition to routine antibacterial applications, it is thought that the application of vitamin preparations containing vitamins A, D, E and K will contribute to the treatment by taking into account the changes in the levels of vitamin preparations containing vitamins A, E, D and K.
