Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out to determine the performance characteristics of laying hens fed under organic production conditions in the province of Bursa. The research was conducted on 3000 single-housed Nick Brown layer hens. The performance characteristics of laying hens were evaluated starting from the 19th-week to the 76th week. Egg production, egg yield, number of dirty and broken eggs, egg weight, feed consumption, feed conversion ratio, live weight, and chicken mortality rate were recorded during the study. The average number of eggs per hen was 324 at the end of the study. An average of 2262 eggs was obtained from the hen house weekly during the study. The hens reached the peak at the 52nd week and the highest number of eggs was reached at the 52nd week. The rate of broken/cracked eggs was 0.67% and the rate of dirty eggs was 0.96%. The average egg weight was recorded as 61.97 g. The average daily feed consumption per chicken was 133.87 g. The feed conversion ratio was determined as 2.16. The average live weight of the hens was 1881.25 g during the study. The monthly mortality rate in the poultry house was 0.38% and the number of death toll was 10.43. As a result of the research, it was concluded that Nick Brown brown layer hens can be used successfully in organic egg production.
