Agile approach in project management of large scale companies

In this study, utilization of agile approaches in project management of large scale companies has been investigated. Since Agile Manifesto was issued in 2001, the concept of agility and switch to agile approaches has been on the focus of many companies. The agile transformation was easy for small companies to adopt ;however, it has become more difficult in medium and large sized companies due to the company culture. It is not easy to make a change overnight on doing business and to transform organizational culture to something that is not expected. Therefore, with the concept of scaled agility, new methods have been developed for the agile transformation of large companies. The literature search shows that companies in similar position have developed new roles in agile transformation, removed some as well as changing definitions of others. During adoptation process to align new roles, some coordination problems, additional workloads have been emerged, yet at the end, great benefits were achieved after all. Based on this premise, interviews with four large-scale companies in Turkey have been conducted in order to gather more information about agile transformation and changing roles.The results of this thesis would provide guidance on new roles and transformation for large companies.
