Abstract (EN)
Over the past two hundred years, technology is increasingly growing owing to the industrial revolution. Industry revolution phenomenon shapes the future as requirement of energy needs in an intense manner. In order to provide the requirement of electrical energy, it is a common and cheap way to use a vast amount of primary natural sources, have highly carbon emission, as coal, petroleum and natural gas etc. During the last century, customer demand scale extended widely within many categories as a result of developing communication network triggers the energy consumption and natural contamination problems. One of the most common requirement categories of white goods is refrigerators, which leads to innovate more efficient and environmental friendly ones have higher margin of profit. Innovating technology of white goods products effect HVAC and automotive industry in an efficient way. In the scope of this experimentally based study, decreasing of the energy consumption of a refrigerator by evaluating the machine room was aimed. Effects of the components located in the machine room, namely machine room back wall, condenser and condenser fan, were evaluated and alternative designs were investigated. In the first part of this study, totally 11 alternative machine room back wall designs including the current one were evaluated. In the second part of the study, totally 6 alternative machine room back wall designs including three different minichannel condensers were investigated. By using a minichannel condenser, energy saving of ~5% with ~80% volume saving and ~50% less refrigerant-side pressure drop was obtained compared to the current configuration. In the third part of the study, experimental and theoretical refrigerant-side pressure drops for a minichannel were compared. In the last part of the study, three point bending tests were performed to find out the minimum bending radius of the given minichannel profiles.
