Abstract (EN)

This treatise includes the periods when the Chagatai Khanate did not separate from the rule of the Great Khaganate. Thus; It deals with the period up to the beginning of his reign, as the first signs of independence were seen in the rule of Kebek Khan after 1318. Some information about the important resources used in the processing of the period is given in the introduction section. When considering sources, contemporaries of the period were examined in a separate title, and those created later were examined in a separate title. The thesis consists of three main parts. In the first chapter, the main problems related to the establishment of the Chagatai Khanate were discussed. In this context, interlocutor issues between the two political entities were mentioned. Cases that were influential in the establishment of the Khanate were examined. In addition, the position of Chagatai Khan among family members has been noted. Finally, the influence of the Great Khaganate on the organization created in the geography of the Chagatai Khanate was described. The second chapter deals with political relations from Genghis Khan's death to 1259, the end of Mongke Khagan's reign. In this chapter, the political position of Chagatai in the Great Mongol Ulus of the dominion is examined. It has been observed that Chagatai, who became the Aqa of the Ulus with the death of other dynasty members older than him, played a role in the enthronement of Ogedei as the Great Khagan. It is mentioned how Chagatai took on a role in the Mongol administrative organization during Ogedei's reign. After the deaths of Ogedei and Chagatai, their savings over the Chagatai Dynasty during the rule of Goyuk, the Great Khagan, were disputed. The reasons for Jochi and the Tolui dynasty wanting the Great Khanate to be given to the Tolui descendants, not the Ogedei descendants, are explained. The profound effects of the dynastic change on the Chagatai and Ogedei dynasties have been demonstrated. This chapter was terminated by addressing important developments during the rule of Mongke Khagan. The third chapter mainly deals with the interventions of the Great Khaganate candidates to the throne of the Chagatai Khanate in order to legitimize themselves. First, the effects of the Tolui dynasty members Arik Buqa and Kublai struggle on the Chagatai Khanate are examined. Thereafter, the re-rise of the Ogedei dynasty by Kaidu and the reflections of his Great Khaganate claims in the politics of the Chagatai Khanate were observed. After the death of Baraq Khan, the damage caused to the Chagatai Khanate by Kaidu placing other members of the dynasty on the territory of the Chagatai Khanate was mentioned. With the death of Kaidu, the destruction of the Ogedei dynasty by Duva Khan was dealt. From the death of Duva Khan until the end of the Isen Buqa period, the relations with the Great Khaganate were processed. In this way, our thesis is ended.
