Abstract (EN)
It is known that there were countless gods worshiped in the pre-Islamic period. These gods were regarded as intermediaries between the people of Jahiliyyah and the supreme God whom they saw inaccessible. Pleasing intermediaries meant satisfying Allah. That is why the excessive reverence shown towards them. Therefore, each tribe had its own idol and each region had a temple to worship these idols. Manaf is one of these gods with the same qualifications and is known to be worshiped by Qurayshites in Mecca. In our primal sources there is not enough information about where this god was brought from and by whom it was worshiped. However, as a result of the studies and discoveries made in late periods, it was possible to reveal the historical consequence and description of the god in question even partially. These new data also show that despite the lack of information about it, it is a respected god that is whorshiped in a wide geography. This situation makes it clear that we cannot limit the glorification of the god of Manaf to the Quraysh tribe, nor can we restrict its belonging to the Mecca region.
