Abstract (EN)

The greenhouse gases (GHG) accumulated in the atmosphere cause to the degradation of forest areas, the decrease of biodiversity, unproductive agricultural areas, reduce amount of drinking water. Therefore, it is needed to reduce the density of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere that are problem on a global scale. Forests are an important tool to fight this circumstance. Therefore, the determination of amount of carbon stored in forest biomass is becoming more important. For this purpose, in this thesis amount of biomass and carbon stock of the stands distributed in ÇAKÜ Research and Application Forest was predicted by the band reflectance and the vegetation indices from Göktürk-2 satellite image. The predictions were obtained by multiple linear regression analysis. The stepwise variable selection method was used to determine the most proper regression model. The successful biomass and carbon model were obtained by combining the band reflectance and vegetation indices values. Independent variables were Band 4, DVI, IPVI and SAVI, and the adjusted coefficient of determination (R_adj^2) was 0,50 in the best biomass model. Independent variables were Band 1, 2 and 4, DVI, IPVI and SAVI, and 〖 R〗_adj^2 was 0,52 in the best carbon model.
