Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to examine the relationship between motivation and cyberloafing behavior of administrative staff working at Aydın Adnan Menderes University in the context of human resources management. Research data were collected by questionnaire and interview. In the research, the "Job Motivation Scale", which was developed by Özgür (2006) and consists of 20 questions and five dimensions (management style, self-development, wage and reward, security and teamwork), was used to examine employee motivation. In order to analyze the cyberloafing behaviors of the employees, a 14- question-scale developed by Örücü and Yıldız (2014) was used. Survey analysis was conducted with 162 administrative staff at Aydın Adnan Menderes University (ADU). Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 administrative staff to better understand the participants' approaches and experiences regarding the concepts of cyberloafing and motivation. The research results displayed that there is a statistically significant difference between cyberloafing tendencies of workers relating to motivation variable. This study ascertained an insignificant negative correlation between two variables. The workers' awareness of concepts and organizational policies and trainings are still below the expected level. Thus, there is a need to develop human resources management theories and practices on a well-established ground.
