Abstract (EN)
Employees become a critical success factor for organizations which must use their resources effectively to achieve their goals. On the other hand, many factors play role in determining whether employees would show sufficient effort or not towards the determined goals. One of such factors is the motivation level of employees. Encouraging and motivating employees towards goals would ease achieving these goals. If businesses fail to encourage and motivate their employees, they would be able to sustain effectiveness and productivity. A second factor influencing employees' motivation is organizational commitment. Organizational commitment determines the strength of the relation between the employee and the organization. Keeping employees happy in the organization became as significant as production and increasing sales. Because the efforts shown by employees with high organizational commitment increases efficiency and productivity, and it is believed that such efforts play a major role in achieving goals. As employees' organizational commitment influences the organizations' success and sustainability, administrators are advised to give importance to organizational commitment in their business practices. The aim of this study is to investigate organizational commitment and motivation. The study seeks to find out whether there is a relationship between employees' level of motivation and organizational commitment. Employees working in various units in Ercan Airport located in Nicosia, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) were asked to fill in questionnaires in an attempt to examine the relation between employee motivation and organizational commitment. 811 questionnaires filled by the employees were analysed.
