Discrimination in work life: A research regarding the LGBT+ employees

This study focuses on the sexual orientation discrimination in the Turkish work life. Within the scope of the thesis, it is aimed to determine whether there are any discriminatory behaviors aganist LGBT + emplyoees who are in active work life due to their sexual orientation and to reveal what they are if there are any. A semistructured interview was conducted with a total of 17 LGBT + emplyoees within the scope of the designed qualitative research. The findings of the study indicate that LGBT+ employees in the work life have been subjected to formal discrimination in recruitment / dismissal processes and to informal discrimination through disdain / insult because of their sexual orientation. However, it has been found out that LGBT employees tend to conceal their sexual orientations in their work life in order to cope with discriminatory behaviors.
