The effect of glass ceiling syndrome upon organizational cynicism: A case study on female academicians employed by selected foundation universities in Istanbul

The effects of Glass Ceiling Syndrome, a barrier women encounter in their career steps, upon Organizational Cynicism has been examined and differentiation of the sub dimensions of Organizational Cynicism in accordance with the demographic variables have been detected in this research. Within the scope of the research, from September 2021 to October 2021, a questionnaire consisting of 48 questions, 5 of which assess demographical features, 30 of which aim to assess Glass Ceiling Syndrome and 13 of which aim to assess Organizational Cynicism, has been conducted on 317 woman academicians employed by 5 selected foundation universities in İstanbul, the results have been analysed and explicated. As a result of the research, it has been determined that there is a significant, positive and weak correlation between the Glass Ceiling perceptions of woman academicians employed by the selected foundation universities, and the Organizational Cynicism. Besides, it has been established that the barriers of Glass Ceiling Syndrome have resulted in Organizational Cynicism and its sub dimensions.
