Abstract (EN)
Science only develops where it is loved. We can understand that science is loved by looking at how many people are interested in it. Science fiction is quite important in introducing science to people. Camille Flammarion lowered science to a level that people could understand through his works written in the science fiction genre and his works written in a simple but scientific style, and he even made them love science and engage in it. His works have been translated into many languages by various publishers and have been printed extensively. Flammarion was also influential in the Ottoman Empire, as in the rest of the world. This influence manifests itself in many fields. We see that what he did in Europe to make science popular was also done in the Ottoman Empire. The fact that his works were translated into Ottoman Turkish by different individuals' multiple times also proves this. He always argued that science should not only be in the hands of a certain class but also among the people. He generally wrote his works in this direction. In this study, we talked about Camille Flammarion's life and works, and we transliterated Avâlim-i Seyyârât, which was translated from a chapter of her book Astronomie populaire and discussed it in the context of the popularization of science. The work introduces the planets, but it does so in simple language. This shows us that this work was written not for experts but for the public. In other words, Flammarion is more of a science communicator than a scientist. We can understand this from the work he did. In fact, we also tried to demonstrate this in our study.
