Abstract (EN)

iiiABSTRACTThe present study deals with glass as a material for sculpture in terms of itsaesthetic contributions to historical, technical and plasticity of sculpture. The first sectionof this study is concerned with the history of glass under the heading of ?the use of glass asa material in sculpture.? This section investigated chemical structures of the types of glassconvenient for the art of sculpture.The second section appears under the heading of ?Techniques for glass formation insculpture? and is composed of two main sections called ?Techniques for Formation Usingthe Oven? and ?Techniques for Formation Using External Factors?. Technical data havebeen supplied by graphs and photos. In addition, works that have used glass have beengiven as examples.As to the final section, relevant comments on glass as well as aesthetical values ofsculpture made of glass have been discussed. In conclusion special effects of glass used asa material in sculpture and special meanings, as well as criteria and values, have beenevaluated in the present study.Contributions of glass to both the sculpture and visual aesthetical communicationshave been discussed and evaluated in detail.
