The evaluation of conventional routine coagulation profile and D-dimer concentration in different stages of canine visceral leishmaniasis

Abstract (EN)
In the present the aim was to determine the D-dimer levels of coagulation tendency, which provides a basis for thrombosis in different stages of Canine Visceral Leishmaniasis and profile of conventional routine coagulation by testing. The animal material of the study consisted of a total 35 dogs, enrolled into five groups, 28 of which were with CVL and 7 healthy. CVL diagnosis was based on one or more clinical findings attributable to the disease subjected to rapid ELISA test kits and IFAT analyses. The dogs diagnosed with VL were classified into 4 different groups (n=7 in each group) established by Leishvet Group based on serological, clinical findings within haematological and to those of serum biochemical findings, By this context, research groups were determined as; 1. Group: Stage I (Mild Cases) 2. Group: Stage II (Moderate Cases) 3. Group: Stage III (Severe Cases) 4. Group: Stage IV (Very Severe Cases) 5. Group: Healthy Control To those of classified dogs with CVL, obtained blood samples were subjected to haematological and biochemical parameters, protein/creatinine ratios in urine samples, Ddimer concentration and conventional routine coagulation profile (APTT, PTT and fibrinogen) were measured. The numeric data obtained in this study were checked for distribution were subjected to parametric or non-parametric tests (ANOVA) for intergroup comparison. The levels of serum albumine (minimum-maximum) were detected as 2- 2.86 mg/dL (stage I); 1.84-3.16 mg /dL (stage II); 1.3-2.76 mg/dL (stage III); 1.3-2.1 mg/dL (stage IV) in CVL infected cases, respectively and 2-2.5 mg/dL in healthy control group. Taking into account serum creatinin elevels (minimum-maximum) were determined as 0.44-1.3 mg/dL in stage I,; xvi 0.48-1.3 mg/dL stage II; 0.6-2.3 mg/dL stage III; 0.6-2.6 mg/dL stage IV and 0.4-0.8 mg/dL in healthy control group. Serum total protein levels were detected as respectively from stage I to IV in infected CVL cases (minimum-maximum) 2.8-8.3mg/dL (stage I); 5.4-6.8 mg/dL (stage II); 3.86-6.22mg/dL (stage III); 5.2-8.9 mg/dL (stage IV) and 3.6-5.8 mg/dL (healthy control group) were determined. Raegarding mean APTT values there was a statistical difference among healthy group and stage IV (p=0.009) cases. There was no difference among groups in terms of PT and Fibrinogen values. Conducting D-dimer levels, there was a statistically significant difference determined among healthy group within stage III and stage IV infected dogs (p=0.009).
