Abstract (EN)
Tea is a widely consumed drink throughout the world. Tea production and consumption started in prehistoric times and became widespread after 4th century BC. Tea production in our country started in the first years of the Turkish republic. Tea production has developed rapidly due to the incentives provided by the government. The value added and employment opportunities created by tea production has been contributed to the national economy. Tea production has been effective in increasing the welfare of the people of the region and eliminating inter-regional imbalances. This paper aims to analyze the production, consumption and foreign trade values of Turkish tea industry. The role of tea production in the Karadeniz region and related issues has also been addressed.
