Abstract (EN)

The Mongols, whom we can define as savages, lived in small tribes as nomads over an area stretching from Manchuria to the Altai, from the Altai to the Gobi Desert. They lived off hunting and looting and raised livestock. Their food was of animal origin. There were also some of them who ate human flesh. They raised sheep, cattle, camels, horses, donkeys, mules and pigs. The Mongols, who united under the leadership of Cengiz Han in 1206, started the period in which they would play a very effective role in the political history of Central Asia, Anatolia and Europe, made great conquests and erased many great states from the pages of history. The Mongols, who aspired to become a society and became a state with Cengiz Han and his successors, progressed in the fields of stockbreeding, agriculture, zoning and commerce in time and gave direction to the flow of history economically, socially and culturally. In our study, rather than the political history of the Mongols, who have such an important history, their social, cultural and commercial structure is re-examined. The topics covered within the sections of the thesis are as follows: concept of culture, structure of the Mongolian society and the territory they occupied in the introduction section; nomadic societies and their lifestyles in the first section; properties of the Mongolian territory, stockbreeding, servants responsible for the livestock, reflections of stockbreeding on life and faith, horse breeding, hunting, garments, accessories and tents made of animal skin and wool in the second section; kitchenware, animal origin foods, plant-based foods, animal origin drinks, plant-based drinks in the third section; commerce, industry, tax, land management, trade routes and transportation, invasion and looting and so forth in the fourth section.
