Abstract (EN)

The constant presence of phones in people's hands causes them to host many bacteria and other pathogens originating from the environment. The use of contaminated phones has increasingly begun to threaten both individual and public health. At the same time, acquire resistance to antibiotics of bacteria constitute a separate threat. Therefore, new alternative searches are needed. The aim of this study is to determine the antibacterial, antioxidant, and antibiofilm activities of different plants against bacteria isolated from mobile phones. It is also the separation of components of bioactive plant extracts by thin-layer chromatography. In this thesis study, a questionnaire was applied to the participants, and samples were taken from the mobile phones of the volunteers. In this study, antibacterial, antioxidant, and antibiofilm activities of different plants were studied on 12 bacteria isolated from mobil phones. Antibacterial activity studies were determined by the disc diffusion method. Results were compared with standard antibiotics. The highest activity was obtained from Artemisia methanol extract against Staphylococcus epidermidis TRT9, and this inhibition zone is 18 mm. The lowest minimum inhibitory concentration is 1625 μg/ml. This value was determined from Artemisia methanol extracts against S. epidermidis TRT9. Antioxidant activity studies were determined by the DPPH radical scavenging methods. The highest DPPH scavenging activity was found to be 88% from the Punica aqueous extract. In antibiofilm studies, the highest biofilm formation inhibition was found as %82 against S. epidermidis TRT7 and Micrococcus luteus TRT11 at Helichrysum methanol extract. In this study, the components of the plants with the highest bioactivity were determined by thin-layer chromatography. These plants were Helichrysum, Punica ve Artemisia. A total of 9 points were shown and Rf values were determined. In conclusion, there is a need to further study.
