Folklore of Turkmen people living in Cerablus and its surroundings (Transition periods)

In the 7th century, it had encounters with the Oghuz tribes, and in the 11th century, it hosted the Seljuks, The Syrian territories, which today are Turkey's southern border neighbors, have a rich and deep-rooted cultural and literary heritage. These lands, where Turkmen people live, Turkish is spoken, and reflections of Turkish culture can also be seen in upon Arab and Kurdish culture, have been an area where folklore studies could not be conducted due to the influence of the Assad regime, which existed previously, and later due to the security issues brought about by the chaotic environment after the Syrian Civil War. Taking into account all the difficulties, the study reached Turkmen villages and towns in Cerablus and its surroundings, folklore elements and folk literature products of the Turkmen people living there were identified and the oral history of the Turkmen community was recorded based on their own expressions, and the overall situation of the Turkmen people in the context of Syrian social history was revealed. The study provides concrete data by examining the culture of the Turkmen people living in Cerablus and its surroundings from religious, literary, and social perspectives, and it is important in terms of recognizing the social structure of the Turkmen community in Syria from the past to the present. The study, being the first fieldwork that reveals the impact of the Syrian Civil War on the Turkmen people living in Cerablus and its surroundings, is expected to serve as a source for Syrian Turkmen folklore and comparative folklore studies.
