Abstract (EN)
Individualized care; Nurses working in surgical units, which require rapid and intensive delivery of patient care practices, need to implement individualized care that is planned and applied in line with the needs, values, thoughts, preferences and experiences of patients, apart from standardized care practices within narrow limits. One of the factors affecting nurses' individualized care for patients is their professional commitment level. Aim: This study was planned and conducted to reveal the relationship between the professional commitment levels of nurses working in surgical units and their perceptions of individualized care. Materials and Methods: The research is a descriptive survey research. Study data were collected from December 2021 to January 2022. While the research population is composed of surgical unit nurses from all over Turkey, the research sample is limited to 138 surgical nurses that can be reached between the relevant dates. The data of the research; Sociodemographic data form, 4-Dimensional Occupational Commitment Scale (MBI), Individualized Care Perception (PIS) A-Nurse Version. Results: It is seen that the high mean scores of professional commitment general and emotional commitment of nurses increase the mean score of individualized care perception (p=0.04). Limitation of alternatives, which is one of the sub-dimensions of nurses' professional commitment, causes an increase in the average score and a decrease in the scores of the personal life status sub-dimension of nurses' perception of individualized care. Conclusion: Professional commitment levels of nurses working in surgical units are closely related to individualized care perceptions. Therefore, increasing the professional commitment of nurses will increase both employee satisfaction and quality of care.
