Abstract (EN)
This study was planned to examine the recovery levels of patients who underwent surgical intervention for which discharge was planned. This study, designed as a descriptive type of quantitative research, was conducted in the general surgery department of Eyüpsultan State Hospital between April 2023 and May 2023. Patients who had a hospital stay of more than one day after surgical intervention and planned discharge constituted the population of the study, while 333 patients who met the study criteria formed the sample. The data collection tools used in the study were the Patient Identification Form and the Post-Discharge Recovery Scale. The SPSS 25.0 statistical package program was used for data analysis. The research data were presented using numbers (n), percentage distributions (%), means (± standard deviation), and tables. The research data were evaluated using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Q-Q plots, and histograms. One-way ANOVA (Analysis of Variance) was used for the evaluation of quantitative data among more than two groups. In determining the groups that caused the differences, Tukey Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test was used for homogeneous variances, and Tamhane T2 post-hoc test was used for non-homogeneous variances. It was determined that 73% of the participants in the study were between the ages of 18 and 65, 54.1% were male, 50.2% had a primary school education, 42.6% were employed, 56.5% did not have any chronic diseases. 43.8% underwent general surgery operations, 98.8% underwent elective surgical procedures, 91% did not require intensive care after the surgery, 50.2% had no previous surgical procedures, 86.2% stayed in the hospital for 0-4 days, 88% had a caregiver at home and 94.3% received discharge education. As a result, this study evaluates the post-discharge recovery levels of patients who underwent surgical procedures and demonstrates that various variables may have an impact on recovery.
