Abstract (EN)
The primary aim of this study is to investigate the mediating role of corporate social responsibility (CSR) perception in the relationship between environmental awareness and environmentally friendly behaviors among employees in the hotel industry. In the contemporary context, where environmental issues have become increasingly prominent due to rapid population growth and globalization, understanding the dynamics that foster sustainable behavior in tourism enterprises is of critical importance. The research was conducted with front office, food and beverage, housekeeping, and office employees working in five-star hotels of a national hotel chain headquartered in Istanbul, located in Muğla (Marmaris and Göcek), Balıkesir (Ayvalık), Istanbul (Şişli), and Nevşehir (Uçhisar). Data were collected through a survey administered to 315 hotel employees. The findings indicate significant relationships between environmentally friendly behaviors and gender, job position, and length of employment; between environmental awareness and income level; and between CSR perception and gender. Moreover, reciprocal and positive associations were identified among environmentally friendly behaviors, environmental awareness, and CSR perception. Overall, the study concludes that CSR perception serves as a mediating factor in the relationship between individuals' environmental awareness and their environmentally friendly behaviors.
