Abstract (EN)
The Hadron Endcap (HE) calorimeter uses plastic scintillators and wave-length shifting (WLS) fibers as its active medium. Both plastic scintillator and WLS fiber are known to suffer degradation of light output because of radiation damage. Currently Hybrid Photo Diodes (HPDs) are used in the HE as photo detectors currently. They will be replaced with Silicon Photomultipliers (SiMPs) in 2019. A radiation damage model has been created to determine how radiation damage will effect HCAL during the collision data taking period which will start in 2015. Also, Monte Carlo (MC) samples in accordance with the radiation damage model have been generated for the Phase0 scenario using HPDs and the Phase1 scenario using SiPMs. In this study, to minimize radiation damage effect, occurring in the HE, on calculations optimal recalibration cutoffs are determined with different luminosities and jet energies.
