Biology and production of Coccinella septempunctata L. (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) in laboratory conditions in Çankırı

This Master's Thesis was carried out in order to determine the mass production in the biology and laboratory environment of the predaor Coccinella septempunctata L. (Coleoptera: Coccinellidae) which is the natural enemy of aphids this years between 2016-2018. The production of C. septempunctata L. in the laboratory environent was carried out using small plastic containers at growth chamber that was set to 25 ±1°C tempeture, %65±5 humudity and 18:6 (light:dark) conditions. The result of the study show thwt the incubation period of C. septempunctata was 2,85±0,24 days. The duration of 1-4th instars of C. septempunctata was 2,93±0,10, 2,61±0,08, 2,72±0,09 and 2,62±0,09 days respectively. Also, the prepupa and pupa periods were found as 1,30±0,07 and 5,04±0,07 days. Male to female sex ratio of C. septempunctata was found as 1:1. Mean adult longevity of C. septempunctata was 16,90±0,15 days. The preoviposition, oviposition and postoviposition periods were calculated as 7,05±0,40, 5,85±0,07 and 4,00±0,40 days respectively. The average of the eggs laid by C. septempunctata females was 109,6±3,71 eggs/female. Also the average of the consumed aphids by the 1-4th instars of C. septempunctata were 21,9±0,80, 41,40±1,30, 69,81±2,44 and 100,34±0,31 aphids respectively.
