Abstract (EN)

Introduction and purpose: Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is an autosomal recessive chronic diseasewith a defectiveprotein in the epithelial cell membrane named Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Regulator (CFTR) that affects sweat glands, pulmonary, pancreatic, gastrointestinal and genital tract mucous glands. In this study; we aimed to comprehend the disadvantages of CF during childhood and adulthood according to healty any population and to clear up the main reasons of increased bacterial growth and to offer effective solutions. Material–methods:In our study, sociodemographic, clinical and laboratory datas of the cases with CF were investigated retrospectively and the reasons that increase the Pseudomonal and Staphilococcal growth in the respiratory tract were emphasized. The patients who had a definite disease by diagnosed methods such as sweat test and gene mutation analysis and also who had regularly recordeddemographic, clinical data and laboratory tests were included in the study. Findings: 41,5% (n=59) of our patients were female and 58,5% (n=83) were male. There was no statistically significant difference between female and male patients in terms ofreproduction of P.aeruginosa or S.aureus (p=0,21-p=0,07). Significant statistical correlation was found between the increase of clor (Cl)levels in sweat test and P.aeruginosa and S.aureus reproduction in our cases (p=0,001-p=0,04).There was a statistically significant relationship between FEV1% values and P. aeruginosa reproduction of our cases where as the same relationship was not found with S. aureus(p=0,004-p=0,77).Negatively significant statistical correlation was found between regular control examination rates and P.aeruginosa and S.aureus reproductions(p=0,002-p=0,01). There was a statistically significant relationship between the presence of concomitant disease and S.aureus reproduction in our cases, however P.aeruginosa reproduction rates didn't have the same relationship (p=0,04-p=0,96). Conclusion: It was concluded that regular control and follow-up is important in patients with CF so as not to overlook bacterial growth that affects health.
