Evaluation of rhythm holter results of patients applied to pediatric cardiology clinic with syncope and palpitation

The most common symptom of major cardiac dysrhythmias is palpitations. Syncope is defined as sudden loss of consciousness and postüral tonus due to temporary cerebral hypoperfusion. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the rhythm holter results of patients admitted to the pediatric cardiology outpatient clinic with symptoms of fainting and palpitations. This study included 485 cases presenting with palpitations and 129 cases presenting with syncope. HM measurements of the patients were analyzed retrospectively. Supraventricular extrasystole (SVE), then mobile atrial pacemaker and ventricular extrasystole (VES) were detected most frequently in palpitations. SVE, mobile atrial pacemaker and VES were also detected in patients with syncope complaints, respectively. It was observed that patients with a mobile atrial pacemaker were mostly in the 10-14 age group (p <0.001). It was observed that patients with VES were mostly in the 10-14 age group (p = 0.034). Patients with first degree atrioventricular (AV) block were found to be in the 15-18 age group at most (p <0.001). The frequency of mitral valve prolapse (MVP) in girls is statistically significantly higher (p = 0.014). The prevalence of 1st degree AV block in girls with syncope complaints was found to be statistically significantly higher (p = 0.018). As a result, most common SVE was found in palpitations and syncope applications. Both the mobile atrial pacemaker and VES were most common in the 10-14 age group, and the 1st degree AV block was most common in the 15-18 age group. In patients with palpitations, MVP and syncope patients were found to be significantly higher in 1st degree AV block than in boys.
