Abstract (EN)
This research was conducted in a descriptively to determine the child trauma information levels of emergency response personnel working in Istanbul 112. The research was carried out with 400 emergency response personnel working at the command and control center and emergency health services stations of the Istanbul 112 European Region Provincial Ambulance Service Directorate between 01.09.2019- 01.12.2019. The data were collected using questionnaire developed in line with the literature. The survey consists of 2 sections, Descriptive Information Form including demographic features and Child Trauma Intervention Knowledge Level test. İn the Child Trauma Intervention Knowledge Level test consisting of 25 questions; pediatric-neonatal advanced life support algorithms, anatomical differences of adult and child airway, shock in children, includes questions on issues that should be considered in child trauma cases are included. Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate the data. The resulting data was analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 24.0. Frequency and percentage analysis, mean, standard deviation analysis, independent sample t test binary groups, one-way Anova analysis for more than two groups, in the case that the p value results less than 0.05 in the analysis of multi-groups; in order to determine the group which creates the difference, the post-hoc tests Scheffe test, chi-square analysis, cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient was used for testing consistency for the sample group were used to evaluate the data. The significance was accepted as p<0.05. 42.0% (n=168) of the participants in the study were between the ages of 20-25 and 51.0% (n=204) were women. 61.0% (n=244) of them were associate graduates, 26.3% (n=105) of them were high school graduates and 12.8% (n=51) of them were bachelor graduates. It's been identified that 57.5% (n=230) were working as paramedic and 42.5% (n=170) were working as emergency medical techinican according to occupational groups; 52.0% (n=208) were working 1-3 years, 21.8% (n=87) were working 10 years or more, 13.5% (n=54) were working 4-6 years and 12.8% (n=51) were working 7-10 years considering the duration of experience in the unit served. According to the results of the study; it wasn't determined statistically significant difference between trauma knowledge levels and gender, occupational groups, educational status, education received. Trauma knowledge levels were found to be statistically significantly higher than other age groups of 36 years and older (p=0.000, p<0.05). Age, professional experience and duration of experience in the assigned unit were found to trauma knowledge levels increased as the duration of the year increased. Looking at the units assigned, it was found that those working at emergency stations had higher levels of trauma information than those working at the command and control center (p=0.000; p<0.05). Trauma knowledge levels of those who had children under the age of 17 were found to be statistically higher than those who did not (p=0.001; p<0.05). Trauma knowledge levels of those who involved in a disaster/unusual situation were found to be higher than those who did not (p=0.000; p<0.05). It was determined that those who had more than 10% encounter with child cases had higher levels of trauma knowledge than other groups.
