Abstract (EN)

Today the problems related to aggression and violance are revealed through written, visual and digital media which are increasing day by day, both all over the world and also in our country. Situations such as war, epidemics, destruction of nature, violence (against women/children/animals), discrimination and bullying where human destructiveness emerges in an individual and social context; make it important to investigate the origins of aggression and to carry out preventive studies in this regard. When scientific studies revealing the causes of violence and aggression are examined in the literature, various findings indicate that, parental attitudes have a significant effect on child aggression. Although there are many scales that evaluate the concepts like "child aggression" or "parental attitude" separately, there is no scale that specifically examines how parents react to child aggression. In line with these needs, it is decided to develop a scale about parental attitude toward child aggression within the framework of psychoanalytic theory. In the first step of the scale development process validity and reliability analysis were applied and carried out on three different samples. Totally 1048 people has participated in this research. Within the scope of the validity; firstly content validity were applied after that the draft scale were tested by using with exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. As a result of the exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, a scale has emerged which consisting of 5 factors and 36 items. The Cronbach's alpha value for the overall scale, was found as .80. The internal consistency coefficients of the sub-dimensions of the scale are changing between .73 and .88. The goodness of fit indices that emerged as a result of confirmatory factor analysis; χ2/Sd (1715.47/584) = 2.93, IFI=.95, NFI=.93; CFI=.95; 4 SRMR: .066; It was observed that it has RMSEA=.058 values. Within the scope of criterion validity, Pearson Correlation analysis was applied to evaluate the relationship of the scale with the "Parental Child Containing Function Scale" and it was observed that there were significant relationships between the sub-dimensions of both scales. Consistent results were also obtained in the test-retest application which measures the stability of the scale in different applications. In the light of all these data, it is revealed that the scale named "Parental Attitude Towards Child Aggression Scale" is a valid and reliable scale with good psychometric properties. Key Words: child, aggression, parent attitudes, family, child rearing, scale development, creativity, behaviour problems, Exploratory, confirmatory factor analysis.
