Children and crime: The case of Marmara Region sample

One of the biggest social problems of today is the increasing crime rates among children as paralel to migration and urbanization. Increase in juvenile deliquency disturbs the social structure and causes cultural conflict. As a result of migration, unplanned urbanization, slum houses and high unemployment rates socialization of children as good citizens cannot be successfully completed by their parents.The aim of this thesis is the trying to present the social reasons, which cause the juvenile delinquency by discussing on the sample of the Marmara Region with the political and sociological dimensions. For this purpose, the scientific studies about the juvenile delinquency were discussed in terms of sociological and psychological and the theoretical case was created. The informations about the geographical position and social and economical features of the Marmara Region, about the foundation with regard to juvenile delinquency and about the general features were obtained.It was came out in the survey, which was carried out with the 348 children, who were brought to the Marmara Region, Child Department Office with the suspected the crime, that the family, migration, urbanization, unemployment and the education are the important factors for the child criminality. Because of the problems, which were arised from the deficiency of the social and economical supports for the people who were migrated from the rural area to the urban. Against the crimes, which were increased as a result of rapid urbanization, unemployment and poverty must be interfered before the crime arised not later. In this sense, the long term programs and policies should be developed.
