Development of a self-guidance instructional kit for children to acquire the ability to manage emotions

Guidance and psychological counseling is psychological help to enable individuals to know themselves, to solve their problems, to establish healthy relationships with their environment, to be in harmony and to realize themselves. Psychological counseling and guidance services, which are also one of the important components of our education system, support the educational, personal, professional, social-emotional development of children from an early age in order to go beyond an understanding that focuses on cognitive development by preparing individuals for life in the 21st century world. In this way, school can become not only an educational institution where information is transmitted, but also an institution that prepares children for life. For this reason, guidance services provided from an early age are of great importance in schools, which are perhaps the institutions where children spend the most time and where the focus is on the student as an individual. It is seen that studies on emotions in the early stages of life have an impact on social behaviors and academic achievement in later years of life. For this reason, "the ability to manage emotions" should be one of the studies that should be prioritized and carried out within the scope of guidance services at the primary education level in order to prepare children for life. The aim of this study was to develop a self-guidance teaching set for children to gain the ability to manage their emotions.
