Abstract (EN)
This research was conducted in a descriptive and cross-sectional way to determine the relationship between quality of care and fear of nursing initiatives through the eyes of hospitalized children aged 6-12 years. The research was carried out with children aged 6-12 and their parents in the children's Clinics of Yozgat City Hospital and Yozgat Bozok University Research and practice Hospital (n=138). Institution permits were obtained from Yozgat Bozok university ethics board, Yozgat Provincial Health Directorate and Yozgat Bozok University Research and practice Hospital for conducting the research. The data was collected using a face-to-face interview technique using a child and parent Identification Data Sheet, a scale for evaluating the quality of care with the eyes of children, and a scale for nursing initiatives and fear for materials used in children. Number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values, Mann Whitney U, Kruskal Wallis H, T test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson and Spearman correlation analyses were used in the analysis of the data. The average score on the children's Care Quality Assessment Scale is 46.95±13.80. The average score of children in the lower dimensions of psychosocial care (14.41±6.61) and information (13.55±4.40) is lower than in physical care (18.99±5.63). Psychosocial care of children whose mother works is higher than the average child size score (p<0.05). Children living in a large family type have a higher average physical care sub-size score (p<0.05). Children who are afraid of hospitalization have lower physical care sub-size and quality of care assessment scale than the overall average score (p<0.05). The average fear score against children's nursing attempts and materials used is 31.86±9.99. Children's fear of materials that are not often encountered (18.37±6.63) was higher than those that they encounter frequently (13.49±4.36). It was found that the fear score decreased as the age of the mother, father and Child increased (p<0.05). It was found that children whose father graduated from primary school had a lower fear score (p<0.05). It was found that children with more than family income expenses had a higher fear score (p<0.05). It was found that children who had not previously been introduced to hospitals and health workers in school were more afraid (p<0.05). It was found that children's fear of common materials and nursing initiatives decreased as the physical care sub-size score increased (p<0.05). It was found that children's fear of common materials decreased as the nursing care quality assessment score increased (p<0.05). As a result, in our research, children's fears decrease as the father's educational status decreases and the child's age increases. For this purpose, it may be recommended by the nurse to provide realistic information in terms of time, duration and pain feeling by ensuring that children interact with materials that will be used before the procedure, which will be performed in accordance with the age group. In our research, children who are not introduced to hospitals and medical staff at school have a high level of fear. For this purpose, it may be recommended that school health nurses be employed in schools and inform them about hospitals, medical personnel and the materials used, and that child health nurses go to schools and give trainings about hospitals and medical materials. In our research, children who are afraid of hospitalization increase their fear of nursing initiatives and materials used, while quality of care assessment decreases. In addition, it was found that the level of fear decreased as the quality of care assessment increased. For this purpose, it may be recommended that nurses in clinics provide children and parents with the necessary training related to hospitals and take a holistic approach in terms of psychosocial care and information for children.
