Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the effect of childhood traumas on individuals' moral maturity levels. The research population is Isparta province. The sample is 352 people residing in Isparta province. In the study, data on the demographic information of the participants was obtained through the Personal Information Form prepared by the researcher. The participants' childhood trauma levels were determined with the Childhood Trauma Scale, and their moral maturity levels were determined with the Moral Maturity Scale. Descriptive and relational scanning model was used in the research. Data about the participants were obtained through online survey forms. In the study, Independent Sample T Test was used for comparisons of two groups, while ANOVA was used for comparisons of three or more groups. In cases where parametric tests were used, a post hoc test was applied for group differences and the Bonferroni method was preferred to detect differences between groups. The relationship between Moral Maturity and Childhood Trauma and its sub-dimensions was revealed by "Pearson Correlation" analysis, one of the parametric test methods. Research results revealed that as the level of childhood trauma increases, the level of moral maturity decreases. The findings of the study show that childhood traumas are associated with demographic characteristics. The frequency of childhood traumas increases as the level of education decreases, the income level decreases, the integrity of the family deteriorates, the rate of living in rural areas increases and the level of religiosity decreases. It was determined that the gender variable did not have a significant effect on childhood traumas. The difference in moral maturity levels of the participants according to demographic variables is as follows: Gender and parental relationship variables do not have an effect on the moral maturity level. In the education level variable, those whose education level is primary school have a lower level of moral maturity than those whose education level is secondary school, high school, associate degree, bachelor's degree and graduate degree. In case of income, those with high income have higher moral maturity than those with low and middle income. Those who spend most of their lives in villages and towns have lower moral maturity than those who spend the majority of their lives in towns, districts and city centres. In the perceived religiosity variable, those who are not religious and less religious have a lower level of moral maturity than those who are religious and very religious.
