Abstract (EN)

This study aims to examine the effects of childhood trauma on psychological resilience and well-being in individuals born between 1990 and 1999. In this regard, childhood trauma, well-being, and psychological resilience levels were analyzed according to demographic variables such as gender and marital status. The sample consisted of 261 individuals born in Turkey, with 190 females and 71 males. The study utilized the Resilience Scale for Adults, Personal Information Form, WHO-5 Well-Being Index, and Childhood Trauma Questionnaire (CTQ). SPSS 26 was used for data analysis. Descriptive analyses were conducted to determine the frequency of categorical variables and the means and standard deviations of continuous variables. Correlation analysis was performed to understand the relationships between key variables. Regression analyses were conducted to examine the relationships between trauma types and psychological resilience and subjective well-being. The multiple regression analysis was conducted to determine the relative importance and impact levels of trauma types on psychological resilience and subjective well-being. Twelve different regression models were used to explore the effects of trauma types on psychological resilience and subjective well-being. Moderation analysis was also performed to understand the role of marital status and gender. The findings suggest that exposure to childhood trauma negatively affects individuals' well-being and psychological resilience. It was found that as emotional neglect and abuse rates increased, well-being and psychological resilience levels decreased. However, the study showed that physical and sexual abuse did not have a significant effect on well-being and psychological resilience. It was concluded that gender and marital status do not play a determining role in the relationship between trauma and well-being or psychological resilience.
