Abstract (EN)
The aim of the study is to investigate the effects of the childhood marital conflict experiences on the marital problem solving abilities during adulthood. In addition, the effects of gender, education levels and socio-economic levels on marital conflict and problem solving abilities in marriage were also examined. Methodologically, three different surveys were applied to each of the participants . These were Children's Perception Interperantel Conflict Scale, Marital Conflict Scale and Marital Problem Solving Scale. The sample of this study was chosen from different cities in Turkey. Those cities are Antalya, Ankara, Aydın, Bursa, Erzurum, İstanbul, İzmir, Samsun and Tekirdağ. Subjects of the study consisted of 230 married people in which, 115 of them were women, the other 115 were men. With respect to correlation analysis results people, who experienced marital conflict during their childhood, had more conflicts with their spouses in their own marriage and they had limited problem solving abilities during their marital relations. One sample t-test was performed for gender effects. The results showed that women experience less marital conflict than men. Also they showed more problem solving abilities than men. According to correlation analysis, people who had high education levels experienced less conflict in their marriage and showed more problem solving abilities. Lastly, one way anova analysis results showed that people, who had high income, experienced less conflict in their marriage and that they also showed more problem solving skills than people who had low incomes.
