Abstract (EN)

This research was conducted for the purpose of evaluating the parental attitudes of adult people who have a history of childhood period. The research was implemented in 3 kindergartens connected with Directorate of National Education in Istanbul city center. Questionnaire study was performed with parents of students aged between 3-6 in kindergartens. In the questionnaire, consent form, socio-economical data form, childhood trauma questionnaire and parental attitude research instrument (PARI) were used. Data were evaluated in IBM Statistics 20.0 (SPSS) statistical package program. For continuous variables, independent groups t-test was used in comparison of means of both groups and one-way ANOVA was used in mean comparison of more than two groups. Tukey multiple comparison test was used for determining between which groups there is statistical difference while ANOVA result is significant. In statistical evaluation of categorical variables, Chi-square test was used. Relation between continuous variables was examined with Pearson correlation coefficient. It was found as a result of analyses performed that fathers who were exposed to physical negligence and abuse in childhood period adopted non-democratic parental attitude, mothers who were exposed to emotional and physical negligence displayed overprotective maternal attitude. It was found that mothers who were exposed to sexual abuse in childhood period displayed democratic attitude but they reject housewifery, fathers who were exposed to sexual abuse displayed democratic attitude.
