Abstract (EN)
Eventhough sign languages are a subject to dynamic developments as spoken languages are, the Turkish sign language studies are quite recent. Especially, Turkish sign language has not been studied enough in field terms of science of translation. It is aimed that this study will fill this gap, contribute to future studies in this field and locate the Turkish sign language on the academic domain of science of translation. In this study, Turkish and German sign languges are analized comparatively in the multidimensional translation domain. Firstly, the general similarities between two languages together, then cultural and spoken languages interactions are presented in samples. Secondly, information about the "Sign language Translation Education" programs in Turkey and Germany are provided and the programs are analized comparatively. On the other comparative analysis, it is assumed that "false friends" in the languages of the two countries, formed by the words of which meanings are completely or partially different, exist in sign languages as well, eventhough they are written or pronounced same/similarly. For this purpose, the "Turkish Sign Language Dictionary" on the website of the Turkish Language Society, published in 2015 by the support of Ministry of National Education and the "Contemporary Turkish Sign Language Dictionary" which is supported by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, which is also presented on the internet, are used in this study. Words from those three dictionaries are compared with the German Sign Language Dictionary "Kestner" which has 19000 sign words presented on video format. Results of this analysis are assessed and compared with the questions, which are originated from the starting point of this study. It is thought that conducting such studies are important in terms of maintaining the cultural heritage as much as in terms of the Qualificaion of the Translators, Didactics and Teachers of the Turkish Sign Language.
