Abstract (EN)

The active seismicity of the Turkish geography has made it a necessity rather than a requirement to construct earthquake-resistant structures. Recent earthquakes have further emphasized this necessity. In high-rise buildings constructed using tunnel formwork systems, all horizontal loads induced by earthquakes are resisted by reinforced concrete shear walls, resulting in significant reduction in displacements that may occur in the structure. In this study, the nonlinear analysis of a 26-story reinforced concrete building model with rectangular geometry, planned to be constructed using a tunnel formwork system, was performed in the time domain. The building model investigated in this study was modeled and analyzed in the time domain using ETABS software based on the design principles specified in the Turkish Building Earthquake Code 2018 (TBEC 2018). For nonlinear analyses of the building model in the time domain, acceleration records from eleven different earthquakes found in literature were used. The results obtained from the analyses were compared in terms of displacements, inter-story drifts, and base shear forces occurring within the building.
