Evaluation of the pharmaceutical product potential of black cumin pulp

This thesis discusses the process of obtaining black cumin oil from black cumin samples and the method of synthesis of activated carbon from the pulp resulting from this process. The main purpose of the study is to evaluate the pulp material obtained during the extraction of the black cumin oil and to produce activated carbon. For this purpose, in the thesis study, primarily the oil of the black cumin samples taken from Azerbaijan was extracted and activated carbon was synthesized with different parameters from the remaining pulp. Efficiency and moisture analyze of the synthesized activated carbon were carried out, and Scanning Electron Microscopy and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy measurements were performed. Afterwards, a pharmaceutical soap was prepared and characterized, ingredients were rosemary essential oil and green tea extract in addition to the obtained activated carbon and black cumin oil. As a result, it was determined that the maximum level of activated carbon was obtained by impregnating black seed pulp with 1:1 ratio of pulp and ZnO at 850°C. Again, at the same temperature, the humidity amount was found to be 1.89% and the efficiency was 44.6%.After the characterization of the obtained pharmaceutical soap, the pH was determined as 8.67 and the moisture content was determined as 41.8%. As a result of the antimicrobial analyses, the maximum effect was seen on the Candida albicans fungus. v So, it was concluded that activated carbon synthesis from black cumin pulp can be achieved with high efficiency and can be used in the production of an antimicrobial effective and biocompatible soap.
