Abstract (EN)

The new coronavirus/Covid–19 pandemic first manifested itself within the borders of China. Then, very quickly, it took the whole world under its influence. People died, hospitals were full of patients and health personnel could not keep up with the provision of health services. Some of the patients were so severe that they could breathe with the support of a ventilator. Because this disease was caught in the respiratory tract and made it difficult for the person to breathe. The rate of transmission of the disease was unusually high. Even in developed countries around the world, the number of intubation devices and beds remained insufficient. There were times when healthcare professionals had to choose between patients with a high probability of survival and those with a low probability of survival. This study, aims to investigate the situation of the health personnel, who are in the first line in the pandemic process, against the pandemic. Before this subject, the historical development of the health phenomenon has been mentioned, since the study is related to the field of health. In addition, information about the medical models applied within the scope of health services was given. Criticisms of these medical models are included. Evaluations have been made about the risk society theory, which is one of the results of globalization and modernization. It has been mentioned about Covid-19 and other epidemic diseases and the plague epidemics that have caused great destruction in the past. It has been deemed necessary to sociologically examine the situation of the health workers, who are at the forefront in the fight against the epidemic, against the epidemic, on the grounds that the greatest struggle in all the pandemics is given by the health workers.
