Abstract (EN)
The bride figure is frequently encountered in marriage, which is the period that human beings must fulfill as a choice or mandatory within the birth, marriage and death stages. There is almost no life that the bride, who shapes and even manages our daily life, does not touch with her magic wand. In addition, in our society, the bride is the representation of beauty, simplicity, purity, cleanliness, honor and the future. The bride, which is considered so valuable on its own, represents the subject of our study. Our work, titled "Bride in Çukurova Folk Culture", consists of three main sections, except the Introduction, and the Conclusion and Bibliography. In the first part of our study with the title of bride in Turkish culture, the definitions of "bride", the similarity of the word "bride" with the tulip / poppy flower, which has a special place in Turkish Culture, the short history of the wedding dress and the "Orhun Monuments", "Kutadgu Bilig", which has a special place in Turkish Culture Literature. In the first Turkish works such as "Divanu Lugatit- Türk" and "Dede Korkut Stories", information about the bride's gaze was given. In the second part of our study, "Anonymous Folk Poetry, Oral Expression Types, In Love Poems" the bride figure was examined. In the third part, the bride in Çukurova folk culture was examined. In this section, "bride" from the selection of the bride to the wedding dress, engagement, bridal dowry, bridal henna, bridal decoration, bridal taking, bridal wear, face-dress, veil mawlid, seeing the bride, going to the bride's father's house, wearing a wedding dress, and the status of the bride in the house. has been studied in all its aspects. Firstly, after giving the information we obtained from written sources, the customs and traditions obtained from oral sources were transferred. The bride figure, which is reflected in folk narratives and folk poetry in the Çukurova region, is discussed under two separate headings. In the conclusion part of our study, it has been seen that the concept of "bride" has always had a special place in social life from past to present, and that it is responsible not only to his wife and family, but also to the whole society through the children he has raised, and the results obtained as a result of the study have been evaluated. It has been determined that the bride takes place and plays a role not only in the life of an individual, but also in the life of the whole society.
