Abstract (EN)

This study was carried out in the Eastern Mediterranean Agricultural Research Institute in Adana during 2018-2019 growing season with six different nitrogen doses and four barley varieties to determine the nitrogen requirement of barley crop in Çukurova region. Trial was arranged according to the split parcels in randomized blocks design with 4 replications. Six different nitrogen doses (0-50-100-150-200-250 kg N/ha) were allocated to the main parcel where four different barley varieties (Akhisar-98, Dolunay, Gulden and Vamikhoca-98) were allocated to the sub-parcels in the trial. 1/3 of the nitrogen was applied at sowing and the remaining 2/3 was applied during the tillering period in urea form (46% N). Number of plants, stalks and spikes per unit area (pcs/m2); spiking time and spiking-maturity time (days); plant height and spike length (cm); thousand grain (g) and hectolitre (kg/hl) weights; spikelets and spikes per grain; grain weight per spike (g/spike) and grain yield (kg/ha) values were examined in the study. According to the results obtained; nitrogen dose x variety interactions were statistically significant where the highest grain yield of 6482.8 kg/ha was obtained from Akhisar-98 cultivar with application of 150 kg/ha nitrogen dose. While a positive relationship (r = 0,769 **) was determined between the number of spike per unit area and the number of stems; a negative relationship (r = -0,652 *) was found between spiking time and spiking-maturity time.
