A research on the effects of the different harvest times on herbage yield and quality components of the some sorghum x sudangrass hybrids as doubled crop under Çukurova conditions

This study was conducted to investigate the effects of different harvesting times on yield and quality components of the some sorghum x sudangrass hybrids as doubled crop under Çukurova Conditions.Field trial was arranged as split?plot design with three replications, cultivars as main plots, harvets times as sub plots. Experimental data were analysed as splis?plit plot design as harvest numbers as sub?sub plots, because several harvests were obtained from the sub plots The plants were harvested at three maturity stages ( milk stages, dough stages,full matured stages) . In this study, the effects of harvesting times on plant height, panicle height, gren yield, fresh weight of leaf-stem and panicle, hay weight of leaf-stem and panicle, crude protein proportions of leaf-stem and panicle were determined.It was concluded that the best harvesting time for sorghum silage in the Çukurova province is during the dough of the plant.
