Abstract (EN)

Objective: We examined the clinical features and hematological findings of children diagnosed with immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) between 2013-2018. We aimed to investigate the treatment modalities according to clinical and hematological findings. Materials and Methods: The study included 80 patients between the ages of 1 month and 18 years who were diagnosed with ITP between 2013-2018. The age, sex, history of previous infection and vaccination, bleeding findings, laboratory values at the time of diagnosis and response to treatment were evaluated. Results: The mean age of the 80 patients included in our study was 5±2.3 yearss. The female / male ratio of the patients was 1.2. Eighteen patients (22.5%) had a history of viral infection within 6 weeks prior to admission. Two patients had acute ITP after vaccination. Among the patients with the diagnosis of acute ITP, 23 patients were admitted mostly during the winter months, 12 patients with chronic ITP were admitted in spring and winter months. When the mean platelet count, White blood cells (Wbc), Mean platelet volume (MPV), hematocrit (Hct) values of all patients were compared, similar results were obtained in groups (p> 0.05). Conclusion: It was observed that the patients treated with IVIG as the first treatment tended to be more chronic than the patients treated with methylprednisolone (p=0.01). Similar results were obtained with the literature. Keywords: Immune thrombocytopenia, IVIG, prognostic factors
